Our Story
True North Home Inspections is a Veteran owned and locally run business focused on Faith, family, truth and trust. I first moved to Oklahoma when the US Air Force assigned my dad from Seoul, South Korea, to Tinker AFB in 1990. My wife and I met in Edmond during the summer of 1994. In 1997, after graduating from the University of Oklahoma, I too joined the Air Force to serve America. My family journeyed with me across the country, as the Air Force flew me around the world. Though we were never fortunate enough to be stationed here, every year of my career, we came back. This is where family lives - Oklahoma is home! Over the years, I've lived in Edmond, Tahlequah, Stillwater and OKC. Upon our retirement from the Air Force, my wife and I chose Purcell as our final assignment - but our mindset of service (to the local area and beyond) remains.

During the process of searching for our most recent home in Texas several years ago, our realtor said something which shaped this chapter in my life. Though untrained, I uncovered refrigerator leaks, found broken and poorly functioning faucets, found termite damage (among other issues) and checked for water pressure and temperature changes in showers as I flushed nearby toilets. As stressful as the overall process of buying a home was throughout my career (and still is), I enjoyed that part of it. As I "inspected" the house we ended up buying, our realtor turned to me and said, "You know - you'd be a really good home inspector." Fast forward to today - In addition to having retired as a Lieutenant Colonel and former Inspector General, I'm now a licensed home inspector in the state of Oklahoma, a Certified Professional Inspector and member in good standing with the International Association of Certified Home Inspectors (InterNACHI), and an affiliate member of the Norman, OK Board of Realtors.

Faith - It's amazing how faith affected, and continues to affect my life. Knowing a higher power not just loves us, but protects us and works all things for the good of those who love Him is humbling and comforting all at once. My purpose for your inspection is to diligently provide to you inspection service as if it is a part of a much greater cause -- because it is.
Family - The people in my life who mean the most to me. They all have gone out of their way to provide support over the years. We serve and comfort each other. They come from as far away as New Mexico and Indiana to attend family events. They've all stayed at many of my homes over the years, and I've stayed at theirs. Homes are about the people inside them.
Home Inspections are about service. You can see on my son's face below the effect of providing outstanding performance and service. This moment was captured just after he successfully made a difficult play to set up a teammate's goal. He knows that his service to a teammate led to overall success. It was a great moment for mom and dad as well. Doesn't everyone want that feeling? That's the kind of inspection service I strive to provide to you.

Truth and Trust - These are linked. As an Inspector General in the Air Force, I had to earn everyone's trust - from the Generals I advised, to the most junior members I assisted and mentored. Trust is dependent upon truth. I had to tell every one the truth, whether it was pleasant or not. To do that, evidence gathering and thoughtful analysis was always required.
Many inspector companies will claim to be, "the best." While they are most likely highly proficient, only one can truly be, "the best." I'm not afraid to tell you that I'm not the best, because I value the truth, and because I seek to earn your trust. You can trust I will give you my best effort, and provide a quality product, every time I inspect for you. I'm in this business because I want to be, not because I have to be, or because this is a hobby, or it's something I do 'on the side.' True North is not an inspection mill - churning out one report after another, distracted by the next inspection. Until you receive my report, you are my priority. I always preferred my inspector's consideration and analysis to discover the truth about my homes. Don't you want the same?
